We have a deep believe that, while innovation is the engine to propel the business forward, it is creativity that provides both the spark and the fuel that drives the engine. The Centre was created to help organisations activate, actualise and optimise their creative capacity. We do this by taking a holistic systems oriented approach to organisational creativity.
The Centre is working with a network of partners to bring together the expertise that is needed to work with leadership to establish a creative climate, develop the right skills and tools and to put the necessary systems and processes in place that are critical to beginning re-designing the organisational culture.
The Centre for Organisational Creativity was founded by Geert van Kuijk & Pernilla Johansson in 2021. Geert has his background as a Consultant in Brand & Business Strategy Development & he takes pride in having moved a government body towards new thinking around old policies. Pernilla has a corporate background as a design & innovation leader in large multinational organisations. She takes pride in having driven change and its effect on organisational culture.
We build awareness of the importance of organisational creativity by providing talks on creativity, innovation & design, specifically tailored to the organisations needs.
We take a holistic systems oriented approach that is based on our model and the act of design. Meaning it’s research driven, iterative & participatory.
By applying various methods and tools, we unfold the challenges and opportunities to gain a clear picture of the current and desired state.
Through facilitation, we craft a Vision and the Strategy that sets the direction towards becoming a more creative organisation.
We Stay Involved
With active engagement, we support the activation and the actualisation of the defined action plan.
We take an interactive & experiential approach to learning and provide the tools & techniques to augment already existing strengths and skills.
We base our work on the proprietary model for Organisational Creativity, that illustrates the building blocks - leadership, climate, capabilities and operations - that needs to be in place to optimise the organisations creative capacity.
At the heart of your organisation are people. Its success originates in them and their ability to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead. Besides bringing in their know-how and experience, your people are your single most powerful source of ideas.
Organisational creativity refers to the capacity of your organisation to actively tap into your workforce’s ingenuity and resourcefulness and turn ground-breaking ideas into reality.
In a stable and predictable environment much of an organisations’ focus revolves around efficiency and perfection. But in a world that is complex, volatile and everchanging, leadership also needs to invest a lot of energy in transformation and innovation and they need to ensure flexibility of thinking.
Creativity starts with taking a systemic approach, looking at all aspects that impact the organisational ability to apply creativity effectively, meaning capabilities, climate, systems and leadership. These key components drive your Idea-Value-Chain and should be top priority in all corners of the organisation.
A powerful start is to ask yourself some reflective questions:
In what ways do we support our people in acquiring the right skills critical in developing creative aptitude and cognitive flexibility?
Is our organisational climate conducive to innovation? If not, where are the obstacles?
What structures, processes and tools are in place to embed and manage creativity and turn it into tangible results? How effective and accessible are they?
How ready is our leadership to make it happen?
As an old Chinese proverb states "the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now."
